Vice Chair of Research – Orthopaedics

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation of the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, in Hershey, PA is recruiting an individual with a Ph.D. for the position of Vice Chair of Research. The selected individual will possess an established and nationally recognized basic science research program supported by extramural funding, publications, and mentorship. Position will begin on or after January 02, 2024.

The Vice Chair for Research is responsible for all the research activities of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation and the Center for Orthopaedic Research and Translational Sciences (CORTS), including basic and translational research, clinical outcomes research, clinical trials, and innovation.

The Vice Chair is responsible for developing and strengthening a vision for the research activities of the Department in conjunction with Department and institutional leadership, execute the research vision, develop comprehensive research plans for the different areas, and oversee, mentor, and teach faculty members, research trainees-fellows, staff, students, and other personnel involved in research.

CORTS aspires to define the way the specialty moves into the future through research and innovation discovering new treatments for patients with musculoskeletal disease.
