California State University, San Bernardino, one of the fastest growing campuses in the nation, is located in a Southern California metropolitan area 60 miles east of Los Angeles and 60 miles west of Palm Springs, at the foot of the beautiful San Bernardino National Forest. Noted for its beautiful 642-acre campus, the university serves a student body of approximately 17,000. The San Bernardino-Riverside region is one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation. The area offers a wide variety of recreational and cultural opportunities. Housing costs are about one-half of those in Los Angeles. The university is growing and currently has approximately 400 full-time faculty, 550 permanent staff positions, and an annual budget of more than $100 million. The university has a major branch campus in Palm Desert.
