Overview
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is seeking a qualified individual to fill a beginning-level, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Psychology position with primary teaching responsibility within our Behavior Analysis programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
This position will have a workload dedicated to teaching and service. The faculty member will be expected to teach classes within the undergraduate and M.S. in Clinical Psychology (Behavior Analysis Track) programs and provide students with educational experiences in the science of psychology as well as its application to real world issues within behavioral health care agencies. The teaching component of the workload will be a mix of undergraduate and graduate courses that may include Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Development, Introduction to Behavior Analysis, Organizational Behavior Management, Applications of Behavior Analysis, and upper division electives in an area of the faculty member’s expertise. Other duties may include mentoring students in research or other experiential learning projects.
Consistent with university, college, and departmental Faculty Evaluation Guidelines, this faculty member would also be expected to mentor students and contribute to department governance and other university service.
The Department has a concentration, minor, and occupational endorsement certificate in behavior analysis. Additionally, the Department of Psychology has a behavior analysis track in its M.S. program in Clinical Psychology that prepares students for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam and licensure as a behavior analyst in the state of Alaska. The behavior analysis curriculum is an approved verified course sequence by the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
The Department offers undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs aimed at preparing students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences, and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. With more than 400 students and 15 faculty members, the UAA Psychology Department is Alaska’s largest center for the scientific study of behavior and mental processes.
